WATCH: Paul Rudd, Selena Gomez & Craig Roberts make us laugh and cry in new Netflix original movie trailer
We’ve been excited about Netflix’s next original movie The Fundamentals of Caring for a long time now.
Starring Craig Roberts (Bad Neighbours, 22 Jump Street) as Trevor, a foul-mouthed British teen with muscular dystrophy, and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Knocked Up) as Ben, the writer-turned-caregiver who takes him on an impromptu road trip, the indie comedy’s premise was enough to hook us when it made waves at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it was later picked up by the streaming service.
Adapted from the novel by Jonathan Evison and written, directed and produced by Rob Burnett (Ed, Everybody Loves Raymond), the story explores how two men – one paralysed emotionally, one paralysed physically – come to understand the importance of hope and true friendship.
Judging by the first trailer, which evokes fond memories of Role Models mixed with Submarine, The Fundamentals of Caring is set to be the feel-good hit of the summer when it premieres to Netflix subscribers around the globe on June 24th.
