WATCH: Nicole Richie gets a high-five to the face during an interview
Nicole Richie genuinely got high-fived in the face during an interview and we can’t stop watching it.
So a high-five fail is awkward at the best of times, but imagine your aim being so poor that you actually face palm a celebrity smack in the face… on camera. Now that’s cringe.
Cat Greenleaf won’t be living this one down any time soon. The interviewer accidentally hit the former reality star in the face after an overly enthusiastic high-five, sending her (no doubt ridiculously expensive) sunglasses zooming through the air.
The high-five disaster came after the journalist asked Nicole what her favourite news of the week was, to which the actress replied: “I live in LA and I heard it’s going to rain three times this week…”
Apparently overwhelmed with excitement about the break in LA’s dry weather spell, Cat launched a heavy handed high-five at the celebrity and, well, the rest is history.
After a painful silence in which Nicole sat frozen with her mouth wide open in horror, Cat said in a panic: “Are you okay?”
She added: “I’m notoriously clumsy.”
And Nicole’s response was brilliant: “I can see that… out of my left eye, only.”
Quickly attempting to divert attention away from what just happened, the flustered journalist asked: “What’s a fun little notorious fact about you?”
“I was just abused. Like two seconds ago,” Nicole replied.
Props to The Simple Life star, though, who took the whole thing in good humour and proceeded with the interview as normal, promoting her new NBC sitcom Great News.
Nicole didn’t let it drop completely, however, reminding her half way through the interview: “Remember when you punched me?”
Eek. We feel for you, Cat. But we’re also so glad this was caught on camera.
