The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan promises season 7 finale will be “heartbreaking”
Get your tissues at the ready, because The Walking Dead‘s Lauren Cohan has prepared fans for a “heartbreaking” finale.
It wouldn’t be The Walking Dead if the end of the season didn’t go out with a bang, and with Rick now fully equipped with more guns and a larger army, viewers are gearing themselves up for an explosive battle against the Saviors.
While other stars have hyped up the action-packed finale, with Norman Reedus (Daryl) comparing the episode to Braveheart, Lauren Cohan (Maggie) has suggested we should expect more than just fireworks.
In fact, the actress described the finale quite differently. She told Harper’s Bazaar: “You’re certainly in for a lot of emotion.
“Incredibly bittersweet, beautiful, and heartbreaking.”
Alongside the inevitable showdown between Rick and Negan, it sounds like fans should also prepare themselves for casualties and potentially the loss of one or more lead characters. Is anyone else suddenly nervous?
Sonequa Martin-Green’s character Sasha is one of the main suspects out of those who might be leaving the show, especially after landing her new lead role on Star Trek: Discovery. And considering Sasha is currently sitting in Negan’s cell armed with nothing but a pill full of poison, her chances aren’t looking all that great.
Ahead of the exciting showdown, AMC has released two promotional images from the finale, which is titled “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life”:
The first image sees a brooding Rick staring down from Alexandria’s walls, while the second picture shows Negan giving Eugene his signature menacing smile as he looms over the character with his beloved baseball bat, Lucille.
Will Eugene be forced to fight his own friends? Will Alexandria get any closer to crushing the sadistic Negan, or will they fall back to square one? What cliffhanger will the season leave us on this time? With The Walking Dead, you can never really know. But we sure can’t wait to find out.
The Walking Dead continues Monday at 9pm on FOX in the UK.
