The Walking Dead season 8 premiere will explain what that Old Man Rick trailer clip was all about
Robert Kirkman has revealed The Walking Dead fans will discover exactly what that final trailer snippet was all about in the very first episode of season eight.
The new trailer released at Comic-Con last week closed with a shot of an aged, grey-bearded Rick Grimes… and it sent fans of the show into an utter frenzy.
While many comic book readers are sure the old Rick clip must correlate to a time jump that will happen, like it does in the original story, other fans speculated whether the show has done a Lost and made the whole thing a coma-induced dream.
“I’m pretty sure you’ll learn in the first episode what that means,” he said at the Television Critics Association summer press tour (via Entertainment Weekly).
“Was it the time jump? I don’t know, maybe it was Rick waking up from his coma. Wouldn’t that be weird?
“That is an intriguing titbit that we did throw out there on purpose, and we’re hoping that people continue to question how it is that fits into the storyline and what it is.
“Comic book fans know where a scene that kind of looked like that would fall, but it also doesn’t seem like we would be getting to that just yet if you were a comic book fan, so there’s a mystery to that.”
The Walking Dead returns October 23 on FOX in the UK.
