Is this Walking Dead favourite quitting the series?
Walking Dead fans are in uproar over the suggestion that Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl Grimes, could be quitting the series.
Chandler Riggs has appeared on the series since the first episode, as the son of protagonist Rick Grimes. Fans have watched Carl grow from an ordinary ten-year-old to a skilled and strong young adult of the zombie apocalypse. As the character is still alive in the Walking Dead comics, many assumed Carl was safe from death this season.
The rumours began when Riggs’ father posted on Facebook that his son’s contract with the series is “completed”. William Riggs posted: “7 year contract completed! Grateful to AMC, Cast & Crew, TWD fan base and especially Chandler for always being 100% dedicated.”
He continued: “Whether it was getting up at 4am, working in the freezing cold past 2am, leaving his friends and carefree kiddom behind, scrambling to make up missed schoolwork, he has done it without complaint and always made me proud & amazed to be his dad!”
Worried TWD fans have flocked to Riggs’ official Twitter account, some demanding clarification or else expressing their sadness at the (possible) news:
@chandlerriggs ARE YOU LEAVING TWD?!?!!?!!??

Riggs departing the show would make sense, after it was reported earlier this month the star had been accepted for a place at Auburn University. However, media outlets were quick to note the university’s location in Alabama was not too far from filming locations in Georgia.
The only way we’ll know for sure is from official word from The Walking Dead or Riggs himself, but it seems they’re keeping tight-lipped on this one. Hmm.
