‘Unlucky in love’ First Dates contestant is a hit on Twitter
The second week of First Dates continued last night, and this Monday’s episode was a particular hit due to one stand-out personality: Marie.
The Welsh school teacher may have failed to capture the heart of her date, Davin, but she did manage to capture the hearts of viewers who fell in love with her charming and witty personality. Singleton Marie admitted to the camera that she has never had a proper relationship with anyone, as most men tend to see her as a friend. Unfortunately, it seemed the same went for Davin, who said he wouldn’t be wanting to see Marie again for another date. Admittedly, it might have had something to do with her talking about ordering a pig’s head to the table straight after Davin had revealed he was a vegan.
Nevertheless, we can’t see why Marie has been so unlucky in love – she seemed to be a complete catch, with her loveable character and funny one-liners. At one point in the episode she joked, “I have a cup at home that says it all, ‘Not all men are bad – some are dead!'” During her date, she also abruptly ended her phone call to a friend in the ladies, announcing that she must leave incase he thought she was “doing a poo”.
Viewers took to Twitter, praising Marie. One fan posted, “Aw bless, Marie is just lovely. I hope she finds someone to go to the beach & have fish & chips with.” Indeed, viewers were touched when hilarity turned to heartbreak at the end of her date. Welling up with emotion, Marie admitted, “There’s only so many times a girl can hear that. It’s hard.”
No fear, Marie. There is still one more chance for the Welsh school teacher to find the man of her dreams as the show announced her return in next week’s episode. We will all be rooting for her.
