TOWIE bosses introduce HUGE changes for upcoming series
The Only Way Is Essex is returning with a brand new series this month and fans should expect to see some seriously big changes on the show.
TOWIE‘s signature holiday destination has always been Marbella. However, for series 22, ITVBe bosses have decided to ditch the staple location and jet the cast off to an entirely different city.
This year, the Essex gang will be taking over Barcelona and there’s no doubt they will be bringing all of the drama as they head to the vibrant Spanish city for filming.
And that’s not the only big change viewers can expect this month. The Only Way Is Essex producers have also axed several cast members from the reality show in order to focus storylines on more popular characters.
According to reports, Chris Clark, Amber Dowding, Mike Hassini, Jack Rigden, Jordan Brook, Maddie Hooper and Ruby Lacey have all been given the boot as part of a massive new revamp for the programme.
A source told The Sun’s Bizarre column: “TOWIE is like a revolving door and producers are always on the lookout for new faces that can keep the show fresh.
“Chris and Amber have left the series as a couple who’ve just moved into an apartment together – and often being in a happy relationship doesn’t work for the show.
“Mike is also loved-up with a girlfriend off camera and has no real storylines to bring to the show but will continue to focus on his fitness and personal training.”
With so many cast exits, it has been said that the series will now focus predominantly on Gemma Collins, Bobby Norris, Amber Turner, Courtney Green and Myles Barnett, allowing these stars meatier storylines.
The Only Way Is Essex returns later this month on ITVBe.
