The first trailer for Brad Pitt & Marion Cotillard’s ‘Allied’ is here
Things are about to get very Mr. & Mrs. Smith… In the first trailer for Allied, the latest film from Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis, Brad Pitt is headed back to World War II, this time in the company of a very alluring Marion Cotillard.
Pitt, in the role of British intelligence officer Max Vatten, finds himself on a deadly mission to Casablanca, where he falls in love with fellow assassin Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard). Only, when one of them is revealed to be a double agent, the now-married lovers must work to eliminate one another. Whew!
Co-starring Lizzy Caplan and Matthew Goode, Allied has been written by Peaky Blinders screenwriter Steven Knight, who’s also working on World War Z 2 and The Girl in the Spider’s Web (a pretty dramatic filmography, if ever we’ve seen one).
While the tale is a Knight original, he revealed that it’s based on a true story that was told to him at the age of 21, and that he’s been carrying around in his memory for all this time:
“This is a very odd story. I was in Texas working as a dishwasher and doing all sorts of weird things. I was going out with an English girl at the time and her auntie lived in Texas, and she got talking about her brother who had been in the S.O.E., the British Secret Service if you like, and she told me this story that just stayed with me. I’ve always known it would be a film, and now it’s gonna be the ultimate”.
From what we’ve seen from the short trailer below, it does look rather ultimate indeed.
Allied hits theatres this November 23rd.
