Stranger Things more popular than Daredevil, Jessica Jones, House of Cards and Narcos
Cult Netflix series Stranger Things has overtaken big hitters Daredevil, Jessica Jones, House of Cards and Narcos in popularity.
SymphonyAM reports via Business Insider that 8.2 million people streamed the ’80s throwback thriller in the first 16 days of its release, making it more popular than some of Netflix’s biggest original series.
Starring Winona Ryder, Matthew Modine, David Harbour, and an impressive cast of talented newcomers, Stranger Things follows the search for Will Beyers; a young boy who vanishes into thin air under highly suspicious and surreal circumstances.
With its retro imagery, Steven Spielberg-esque imagination, and transcendental synth-based soundtrack, the love letter to the ’80s supernatural genre has won over nostalgic and younger audiences alike.
However, the impressive viewing figures for the overnight hit still aren’t enough to topple Fuller House and Orange is the New Black season 4, which both scored 13 million views in their first two weeks.
