Meet the Great British Bake Off’s 2016 contestants
The newest batch of Great British Bake Off contestants have been revealed.
Among those competing in the 2016 competition are a pastor, a garden designer and an aerospace engineer.
Last year’s series was the most successful ever, with winner Nadiya Hussain scoring multiple television and cooking-related opportunities since – including baking a birthday cake for the Queen and starring in her upcoming new food series.
And Paul Hollywood has admitted this year’s contestants were feeling the pressure of matching Nadiya’s prowess, saying: “Nadiya went to a whole new level… it put pressure on them more. I think we felt it in the tents as well. They started quite nervously, but once they settled down they got into it.”
Fellow judge Mary Berry agreed: “They know the standard that it is, which is now pretty high. And I think they were slower to bond this year than they were in the past.”
