Margot Robbie will star in Harley Quinn spin-off movie
She was the only good thing about Suicide Squad – so we’re thrilled to reveal the news that Margot Robbie has agreed to star in a new spin-off film as Harley Quinn!
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the Australian actress has signed a fist-look deal with Warner Bros, who produced the DC universe box office hit. Robbie will develop and produce feature films with the studio under her LuckyChap Entertainment banner.
As part of the deal, she’ll also feature in a spin-off Suicide Squad movie as the baseball bat-wielding Harley Quinn we know and love.
The new movie will celebrate the female heroes and villains of the DC universe, and will feature appearances from Batgirl, the Birds of Prey, the Black Canary and Huntress
Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the female-driven film was Robbie’s idea, after she became interested in the women of the DC universe when researching for her role as Harley Quinn. She found a writer and presented the idea to Warner Bros, who loved it.
Robbie will also star in a film adaptation of Dean N. Jensen’s Queen of the Air with Warner Bros. In the film, she will portray famous 20th century trapeze artist Lillian Leitzel, one of the biggest stars in the world at the time. The film will depict her life and tragic love affair with fellow trapeze artist Alfredo Codona.
