Katie Salmon set to return to Love Island for “more sex, drama and tensions”
Katie Salmon attracted some serious drama in last year’s Love Island and now it looks like she might be back for another series.
Love Island is returning to ITV2 soon and bosses are doing everything they can to ensure this series is as scandalous as ever. Not only have producers extended the show running time for a whole extra week but it has now been reported they are inviting former contestant Katie back to the show.
In case you need filling in on the summer 2016 events, Katie’s arrival marked a first for the reality show as she paired up as part of a same sex couple with Sophie Gradon.
Sophie was coupled with Tom Powell at the time and when he got voted off the island the two promised to continue their relationship and wait for one another until the show finished. So, naturally, Tom was a little miffed to see Sophie crack on with Katie moments after his departure.
And the controversy didn’t stop there. Just as Katie started to develop real feelings for her new partner on the island, Sophie had a sudden change of heart and left Katie heartbroken.
The drama kicked off again during the reunion show Heading Home, when Katie and Sophie confronted one another over what happened in the villa. The row got pretty personal and resulted in Katie storming off in a fury.
It’s no wonder, then, that bosses are desperate to get the star back on the show. A source told The Sun: “Katie was only in the house for five minutes but was caught up in two of the most dramatic twists in the entire series.
“It’s no secret that ITV are hoping for more sex, drama and tensions this year, and they know that Katie would be the perfect instigator.
“She’s already spoken to producers who seem to want her to return to the villa for the whole stint rather than arriving later than the others.
“Katie is a gorgeous girl and she’s bound to make even more of an impact second time around – boys AND girls need to watch out.”
Love Island returns soon to ITV2.
