Ice Cube to play Scrooge in A Christmas Carol reboot
Legendary N.W.A lyricist and Ride Along actor Ice Cube is to play Scrooge in a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol.
The Charles Dickens classic is being adapted by Tim Story, who has previously worked with Ice Cube on Ride Along and the upcoming Ride Along 2.
According to Deadline, Cube’s Scrooge will be a wealthy real estate mogul who is shown the path to redemption by the ghosts of Christmas Past,Christmas Present and Christmas Future.
The Story-directed film will be titled Humbug, and was recently acquired by Universal Pictures after a four-studio bidding battle with MGM, New Line and Disney.
Humbug is expected to hit cinemas in winter 2017.
Ice Cube can next be seen in Tim Story’s Ride Along 2, which premieres on January 15 next year.
