Friends star Matt LeBlanc joins Top Gear
Friends and Episodes star Matt LeBlanc has signed up to be a co-presenter of the new revamped Top Gear, hosted by Chris Evans. This is not a drill.
LeBlanc has twice appeared on the show before as a guest on the “star in a reasonably priced car” segment. He currently holds the record for the fastest ever celebrity lap.
Chris Evans said: “Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear.”
Speaking about his new role, LeBlanc said: “As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter.”
Sitcom fans around the world will know LeBlanc best as ladies man Joey Tribbiani from the world’s most popular ever sitcom Friends. In recent years, he has also played a parody of himself on the critically-acclaimed British sitcom Episodes.
Chris Evans continued: “Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas.”
“We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year.”
We’re not going to lie, we were a little bit sceptical about Chris Evans’ ability to helm the mammoth motoring show after Jeremy Clarkson was sacked from the role last year due to bad behaviour. It looks like he might stand a fighting chance however, with Friends fans all over the world likely to be curious about the new edition.
The only bad news about all this is it doesn’t look like there will be a Friends reunion any time soon, but we knew that already.
