EastEnders Ryan Malloy to make a dramatic return to the soap
Ryan Malloy, played by Neil McDermott, is reportedly returning to EastEnders.
The EastEnders bad boy was last seen early this year, after he came back to Walford to see his daughter Lily having learnt her mother Stacey had been sectioned. Ryan’s sister Whitney convinced her brother to hand himself into the police after years on the run from the law, and with the promise of being able to have a real relationship with Lily, Ryan begrudgingly followed her advice.
Ryan was a series regular between 2009 and 2011, during which time he enjoyed a turbulent relationship with Janine Butcher and fathered Stacey Branning’s daughter. He was forced to go on the run after murdering a man who sexually exploited his sister Whitney.
According to The Sun newspaper, a source said: “Ryan is never far from Whitney’s mind and she has always stayed in touch as much as possible.
“Although Ryan will only be appearing in a couple of episodes it’s fair to say that when he’s around drama usually follows.”
McDermott is believed to be shooting top secret scenes at the Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire, where EastEnders is filmed, for a September return to the soap.
Ryan’s sister Whitney, played by Shona McGarty, may have need for her brother after she learns that her fiancé Lee Carter has cheated on her with Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) and given her chlamydia. His daughter, Lily, still lives on the square with Stacey and stepfather Martin.
