Davina McCall opens up about being “brutally honest” with her children
Davina McCall has revealed she is “brutally honest” with her children about her past battles with drug addiction.
The TV presenter has spoken openly about the several years she spent struggling with drug addiction in the public eye, but Davina has now opened up about the moment she shared this information with her three children, Holly, Tilly and Chester.
Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, the former Big Brother host said it was important the children found out the truth from her.
Davina explained: “I’ve had to be very honest about my past with the children – especially now they have access to the internet.
“Actually, I had to be brutally honest quite early on when I thought other kids might talk to them about it. They grew up with ‘Mummy’s going to a meeting’ – they just didn’t know it was a Narcotics Anonymous meeting.”
However, the fitness fanatic continued to describe how her children seemed to already have some knowledge of what was going on.
“They were all really very accepting,” she said. “They said, ‘We thought it was something like that. Is that why you don’t drink?'”
Davina added that communication is now very open with her family, saying: “All my kids know that … nothing is off limits. Any problem, any issue, you can just come and run it by me and we’ll talk it through.”
