Channel 4 and Nat Geo partner for new ISIS-inspired drama by Wolf Hall director
Channel 4 and National Geographic have joined forces for a new ISIS-inspired drama written by Wolf Hall director Peter Kosminsky.
The four-episode drama will explore the experiences of four Brits who leave the UK to join ISIS in Syria. Kosminky wrote the series after spending a year researching the subject matter.
It is the first time the two channels have partnered on a project, with the series premiering next year on Channel 4 in UK while National Geographic handles the international release. It has been in production since late 2014.
Channel 4 Head of Drama Beth Willis said: “This is a deeply authentic drama through which we are able to question and confront an incredibly complex, divisive and urgent global issue.
“I’m delighted to be partnering with National Geographic and Archery Pictures to bring Peter’s brilliant work to audiences in the UK and worldwide.”
Nat Geo executive vice president Carolyn Bernstein added: “National Geographic has always been on the forefront of covering the complexities of war in our documentary features and series.
“Peter’s scripts take that same bold, unblinking approach to telling the fact-based stories of young ISIS recruits and offer an authentic and nuanced look inside one of the most serious global threats we face today.”
